  • IIM, Bangalore was established in 1973.

  • The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore was established by the Government of India in 1973. It is a centre for excellence in management focussing on Post Graduate and Doctoral level teaching, Executive Programmes for senior and middle Management, research and consulting.

  • The Institute is located in a 100-acre green campus on the southern outskirts of Bangalore.

  • IIMB has one of the best student exchange programme in the country; partner schools include NYU Stern, GSB Chicago, Anderson (UCLA) and WHU Germany. In order to provide more students with an international exposure, IIMB has a course on international business that involves project work with a participating company at a foreign location.

Curriculum
  • Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

    The Fellow Programme is the doctoral-level Programme of the Institute, recognised as equivalent to a Ph.D. by the Association of Indian Universities and the Government of India. The program equips students for careers in teaching and research, as staff-level specialists in functional areas and sectors in corporate, government, non-government and international organisations, and as consultants. The programme has the first two years in common with the Post Graduate Programme. Beyond the second year, FPM students work on advanced courses and for their doctoral thesis. To facilitate practical experience in teaching/training,senior Fellow students are being permitted to assist the faculty on a part-time basis. They are also being allowed to spend their summer, assisting the faculty in designated research projects in areas related to their dissertation research.

  • Management Program for Technologists (MPTs)

    Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry, launched the first Management Programme for Technologists (MPT) in 1992.

    Unique Aspects of MPT

    The programme is most suited for graduates in technology/engineering or equivalent or masters' degree in technology related subjects such as computer since, biotechnology and chemistry. The participants should have about five to eight years of work experience in manufacturing or related field with potential for shouldering managerial responsibilities. The preferred age group for the participants is about 28-35 years. Candidates should be sponsored by their organisations. In exceptional cases, self-sponsored candidates satisfying the above criteria will be considered.

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Management :

    The Postgraduate Programme (PGP) is designed to integrate current management theory and practice. The two year Programme , is designed to provide management graduates with inputs in the functional areas of Marketing, Finance, Economics & Social Sciences, Information Systems, Operations, Corporate Strategy, International Management, and Personnel Management and Human Resourses Management.

    There is a strong emphasis on project work as a part of the regular courses at the Institute. The Post Graduate Programme lasts 6 trimesters, spread over 2 years, with a summer project in between the 2 years.

    First year students are exposed to basic concepts in the areas of Marketing, Finance, Personnel Management and Human Resources Management through the 'core courses'. These lay the foundation for all the functional areas of management and help develop problem-solving skills.

    During the vacation between the first and the second year, the students are required to work on a summer assignment in an organisation.

    In the second year, students specialise in functional areas of their interest. There is greater emphasis on the application of knowledge gained in the form of projects, group exercises and case discussions.

  • The Second Management Programme For Finance Professionals(SMP)

    The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore has developed a unique programme to meet the emerging needs of finance managers, to build on their existing professional expertise and develop business skills and perspectives needed to succeed in senior management positions.

    Participant's Profile

    The Programme is meant for young finance executives typically with professional qualifications like ACA/ACS/AICWA.
    The participant should have minimum of three years experience in finance or accounting function with potential for shouldering managerial responsibilities: The preferred age group is about 27 to 32 years.
    Candidates should be sponsored by their organisation. In exceptional cases, self sponsored candidates satisfying the above criteria will be considered. No placement services will, however, be available to them.

  • Nexus The Institute's annual Marketing Fair Nexus helps students hone their professional skills through interaction with the industry as well as the marketplace and the customer. Design of innovative games, aimed at gathering market data, is a unique feature of NEXUS.

  • AMA-Niche The Marketing Club, AMA-NICHE, aims at augmenting classroom studies with current marketing inputs from the corporate world. It aims to supplement the theoretical learning of classrooms with practical experience of industry professionals. The club's activities include organising Seminars, Panel Discussions, Workshops, Advertising and Marketing Quizzes as well as increasing interaction of the student community with the corporate houses and other business schools.

  • Net Worth, the Finance Club organises Seminars, Guest Lectures by eminent personalities, Workshops, and Quizzes on a regular basis. The club also organises debates on contemporary issues.

  • Sigma The Systems Club, Sigma'aims at increasing the awareness of the students in the field of information technology. It also helps the computer centre in logistics and system management. It holds introduction and 'get familiar' classes for every new batch of students to make them aware of the facilities available in the Computer Centre. Sigma also arranges for student-industry interaction.

  • Drishti The Corporate Strategy Club, Drishti aims at increasing the awareness of strategy in industry among students by holding talks, seminars, workshops and panel discussions.

  • Venture The batch of 1994-96 started an entrepreneurship club named 'Venture' with the aim of promoting an understanding of the dynamics of small businesses and their management. The club's chief activity is to bring about an interface between the student community and entrepreneurs. As a part of this, projects from industry are handled by this group.
